I've acted as a producer for digital and social platforms, in all of my reporting stories and all of my entertainment segments.

Entertertainment Briefs

I create 15-second entertainment-based briefs for all of Newsy's clients. To complete the product, I write the script, select visuals, edit the package and collaborate with the Briefs team.

Here's a package full of some.

Fully Produced Shows

Here are three full shows I produced, along with a few critiques and comments on how I made decisions before and during the show.

I think the production of the A-block made a lot of sense. Throughout the week, there were tons of weather-related stories which also did well on our website. Because of those numbers, I felt it was important to play it up. One critique I have for myself was the end's timing. We read the tease for the kicker, then sports went long and I had to cut it in the end. I just need to preplan on how much time I'll have in case something changes.

I really liked all the elements we added to our A-block, including headlines, rolling bam, OTS, touchscreen, live report and an informative graphic to add context. If I could change something, I would've added a few more wipe VO or SOTS to break up all the anchor VOs one after the other. Sometimes it can get repetitive and boring, so I think I could've moved things around or added something to spice it up.

We lead the show with a mini-headline package, which gave a good preview to all our big stories of the day. Then, our director's headphone cord was hooked around the joystick and the camera moved super weirdly! Though it was out of my control, it was still a lesson that you can't plan for everything. I would have added a few more elements like bams or banners in this show if I redid it, but I think it recovered well.
